Hikvision eDVR: Save Up to 45% Energy!

Traditional digital video recorders (DVRs) consume significant amounts of power because they rely on hard disk drives (HDDs). These frequency converters consist of many moving parts such as shafts, actuator arms and drive heads, which provide high energy consumption for storing data.

Reduce DVR Energy Consumption with Hikvision

Hikvision has created a range of new eDVRs to meet this challenge and help organizations and individuals reduce energy costs and emissions. They use embedded solid disk technology (eSSD) instead of traditional hard drives; This eliminates the need for moving parts in the warehouse and greatly increases energy efficiency.

eSSDs feature a highly integrated 'nand' and solid-state controller, offering improved memory capacity, heat dissipation and overall electrical performance compared to traditional hard drives.

How Environmentally Friendly Are the New eDVRs?

During in-house lab testing, Hikvision found that the DS-E04HQHI-B eSSD storage chip has a power consumption of 0.4-0.5 watts. This is 10 times more energy efficient than the 4.0-5.0 watts required for more traditional technology.

Considering the devices' overall environmentally friendly performance, eDVRs with eSSD storage are approximately 45% more efficient than traditional eDVRs. It has higher energy efficiency. The new eDVRs consume between 5.42 and 5.82 watts of power, rather than the 9.48 to 11.00 watts that traditional DVRs use to perform the same function (albeit with less performance).

These tests show that replacing traditional DVRs with Hikvision eDVRs can save typical homeowners and small businesses up to 45 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per device per year. This is equivalent to charging approximately 3,000 iPhones.

Sustainability Beyond Energy Efficiency

Hikvision's new e-DVRs not only save huge amounts of energy. , but is also more durable for many other important reasons.

Firstly, eSSD technology eliminates moving parts in the storage device, which reduces internal wear and tear of the eDVR and extends product life. This optimizes customers' investment in Hikvision technology and reduces carbon emissions associated with replacing equipment at end-of-life.

Additionally, the ultra-compact nature of eSSD chips means the new Hikvision eDVRs are smaller than traditional DVRs. This reduces shipping costs, packaging requirements and all associated environmental impacts.
